Spain defeated Portugal 7.5 to 4.5 in the International Pitch & Putt Match held at the Pozo de Lago course in the province of Ourense. This victory allows Spain to maintain its unbeaten record in International Matches of this golf discipline.

Spain took a two-point lead on the first day. The provisional 4-2 score already reflected the superiority of the Spanish team – made up of Juan Fernández Ardavín, Luis Rodríguez, Juan Pedro Monjó, Eustaquio Rodríguez, Andrés Pastor, and Vicente Serrano – in the fourballs.

On the second and final day, the six individual matches took place, in which the Spanish team once again dominated their rival, this time by 3.5 to 2.5 for the aforementioned total of 7.5 to 4.5.

This is the first time the International Match against Portugal has been held outside of Portugal. The other three editions were played in Coimbra (twice) and in Castanhede last year. Neither venue brought luck to the home team, who lost both matches.

The Spanish national Pitch & Putt team has won every match since beating France in September 2006. Spain's brilliant run in Pitch & Putt matches continued months later, in 2007, when Portugal lost to Spain in the first edition of this match.

The French team subsequently lost again in the second edition of the Franco-Spanish International Match, as did Portugal in 2008 and 2009. To these phenomenal records must be added the successes achieved in the IPPA (International Pitch & Putt Association) calendar.
