Spanish women's golf faces a major new challenge this week, from June 23 to 26. It's the Toyota Junior Golf World Cup, an invitation-only tournament now in its 32nd edition, which brings together the countries that have achieved the most success in top-level competitions over the past twelve months.

The great victory obtained in 2022, the third place in 2016 and the fifth places in 2019 and 2024 are the most recent outstanding precedents for Spain in this important competition that is being held once again at the Japanese Chukyo Golf Club without Spanish presence in the men's event.

Therefore, all eyes are on the trio made up of Nagore Martínez and Carolina Pérez-Tasso from Barcelona, and Amanda Revuelta from Madrid, a reliable team captained by the President of the Women's Amateur Technical Committee, Covadonga Basagoiti.

It's worth mentioning that all these players have earned their place representing Spain in Japan in recent months. Carolina Pérez-Tasso is the current Under-18 national champion, Amanda Revuelta was a semifinalist at the French Junior International, and Nagore Martínez is coming off a dream 2025.

To highlight the significance of Spain's participation in this tournament, it suffices to say that it is the only European delegation with an invitation. South Africa, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, and Colombia complete the women's tournament lineup for this edition.

Each team consists of three players who will compete in three rounds of 18 holes under the 'stroke play' format, with the worst result of each team being discarded in each round.

Spain, winner in 2022

Spain has participated in this competition intermittently, and not always in both categories. A regular participant in the 1990s and also present between 2002 and 2005, the men's team returned in 2018, achieving the silver medal with David Puig, Eugenio López-Chacarra, Alejandro Aguilera, and Eduard Rousaud. Previously, they had won three bronze medals in the 1994, 2003, and 2004 editions. And in 2019, Spain added another bronze.

The women's event is much newer, and Spain has only participated three times. Their first appearance resulted in a magnificent performance: Ana Peláez, Marta Pérez, and María Parra finished third, even leading the standings at the end of the penultimate day. Their second appearance was in 2019, and Spain finished in fifth place.
