The qualifying rounds of The Women's Amateur Championship have concluded at Muirfield Golf Club (in northern Scotland) with five Spanish players among the select group who have advanced to the match draw, which begins this Wednesday. One of them, the highest-ranked, is the defending champion, Paula Martín.

The Madrid native, winner of the US University League just a few weeks ago with Stanford, finished fifth with -4 after accompanying her excellent 67 (-4) on the first day with a par on the second.

Balma Dávalos (-2) has been another bright spot this week. She has kept her bogeys in check and shown she can make birdies on such a demanding course, which is important heading into the knockout stage. It's worth remembering that she comes straight from winning the Spanish Women's Amateur Golf Championship with the Valencian Community team.

At par, with two almost identical rounds of 71 strokes, another of our top contenders, Andrea Revuelta, finished. The Stanford golfer saw her path become complicated on Tuesday, but managed to recover. On the playing field, she is a formidable opponent.

Furthermore, it's worth highlighting the recovery of Martina López-Lanchares (-2), who enters the main draw with a magnificent 69 in the second round. The Basque player even managed an eagle. Cayetana Fernández also makes it into the main draw, having won a late-afternoon playoff in which she also...

Paula Francisco and Adriana García Terol have participated, without success.

Spanish golf, well represented at Muirfield

Paula Martín and Andrea Revuelta from Madrid have led a group of nine national golfers, most of whom also develop their careers in the United States, such as Paula Francisco, Cayetana Fernández and Ángela Revuelta, also from Madrid, Balma Dávalos from Castellón, Anna Cañadó from Tarragona, Martina López-Lanchares from Gipuzkoa and Adriana García Terol from Barcelona.

This delegation is perfectly assisted by the coach Marcelo Prieto and the Sports Director of the RFEG Professional Technical Committee, Javier Herranz.

From this moment on, it's time for the direct elimination rounds for the title.
