The Valencian Community team, the defending champions, confirmed on the second and final day of the qualifying phase that they have arrived at this 2026 Spanish Women's Absolute Championship in peak form. They topped the group of eight teams that will compete for the title at Infinitum Golf (La Pineda, Tarragona) in the Match Play phase, which begins this Tuesday.
The Levante team (+1 overall) improved their performance on this second day of play thanks to the in-form Balma Dávalos and Martina Navarro, who each carded rounds of 69 (-1). They were two of the best players on these 36 holes, as evidenced by their -4 and -3 scores, respectively.
The Catalan team has taken second place (+9 overall), with Anna Cañadó as its driving force; her round of 66 strokes (-5), crowned with an eagle on the 18th, was key to climbing positions and overtaking the leading team at the end of the first day, Andalusia (+10), which has fallen to third place.
The first flight is completed by the teams from the Basque Country (+11), Madrid (+32), Murcia (+56), Aragon (+61), and La Rioja (+68). The second flight includes the teams from the Canary Islands (+72), Galicia (+73), Castile and León (+73), Cantabria (+90), the Principality of Asturias (+98), the Balearic Islands (+100), Castile-La Mancha (+154), and Extremadura (+171).
On an individual level, it is worth highlighting the sensational role played by María Purroy (-1), Martina López-Lanchares (-4), Paula Balanzategui (-1) or Inés González (-2), who stood out in the second round with the best round of this phase, a 64 (-7) with seven birdies without a mistake.
The tournament, as usual, begins its elimination phase (Match Play) this Tuesday; the teams in the first flight will play for the title.
Noa Terroba, protagonist of the first day
The tournament began with Andalusia in the lead, thanks in large part to Noa Terroba, who carded the best round of the first day, a sensational -6. The University of Maryland golfer's score, combined with the -1 rounds of Marta Aguilar and María Purroy, put Andalusia ahead of the Valencian Community and the Basque Country.
