The Spanish Association of Golf Managers (AEGG) held a new professional conference at the Real Golf de Pedreña (Cantabria), bringing together nearly 60 directors, managers and professionals from the sector, consolidating this type of meeting as a key space for training, networking and the exchange of knowledge in the management of golf courses in Spain.

Under the title “Efficiency in golf courses: maintenance, restoration and technology”, the day focused on one of the main current challenges of the sector: improving the operational efficiency of clubs from a comprehensive perspective.

The program stood out for its technical and practical approach, addressing key areas for the sustainability and profitability of the facilities.

In the area of maintenance, Lorenzo Elorduy (ICL) presented strategies for controlling the Dollar Spot and optimizing agronomic resources, focusing on efficiency and reducing operating costs.

The round table on food and beverage (F&B), with the participation of Rocío Idiáquez (Real Golf Club de San Sebastián), Pedro Navedo (Real Golf de Pedreña), Carlos Zamora (Deluz y Compañía) and Pablo Menéndez, allowed for an in-depth analysis of margins, cost control and management models necessary to improve the profitability of this strategic area in clubs.

In the area of digitalization, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation (RFEG) presented tools such as Digital Green, aimed at improving decision-making through data analysis.

Also addressed were issues of increasing relevance such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, with INCIBE and Marco Antonio Lozano, highlighting the importance of protecting both the data and the reputation of the clubs.

The day also included a block dedicated to risk management, where Antonio Tortosa (Spanish Association of Fire Protection Societies) analyzed new operational threats, such as fires associated with the use of lithium batteries in buggies and electrical systems.

This multidisciplinary approach reflects the evolution of the golf course manager's role, which is increasingly focused on the cross-functional management of critical areas with a direct impact on the bottom line and the sustainability of the club.

The AEGG would like to extend a special thanks to Pedro Navedo and the entire team at Real Golf de Pedreña for their hospitality and collaboration in organizing the event.

The association also highlighted the contribution of all the speakers, collaborators and attending professionals, whose active participation helped to create a learning and reflection environment aligned with the real needs of the sector.

The day concluded with networking opportunities that strengthened professional relationships and generated new collaboration opportunities among the various players in the golf ecosystem.

With initiatives like this, the AEGG reaffirms its commitment to the professionalization of golf course management in Spain, promoting continuous improvement, innovation and the creation of a solid network of managers in the sector.
