Building momentum throughout the tournament and bolstered by outstanding performances from Martín Cervera and Oliver de Wint, the Spanish team secured the silver medal at The Amundi Evian Juniors Cup 2025, a leading tournament in world junior golf held at the legendary Evian Golf Resort in France. Both players also took home gold and silver medals, respectively, in the men's individual event.
Martín Cervera – winner of this year's Reid Trophy – continued his magnificent second half of the season in Evian. He was the best golfer of the week with a cumulative score of -4, the only under-par score of the tournament. His final rounds of 66 and 69 strokes – with thirteen birdies in those 36 holes – were a true ode to golf.
The second place, with the silver medal as its prize, went to Oliver de Wint (+2 total), the reigning Spanish Junior Champion. His third round was the best of the day, a fantastic 66 (-5) with six birdies and a single bogey. The Andalusian players have confirmed themselves in this competition as two of the most promising talents in Spanish golf.
Our players haven't been quite as sharp. Icíar Rodríguez (+12 overall) couldn't maintain her excellent momentum from Thursday, when she carded the best round of the day (68), on the final day. Her 80 prevented her from breaking into the women's Top 5. The fourth member of the team was Sofía Gamilla (+27), who was less accurate than usual all week. She also failed to put together a perfect round on Friday.
It should be noted that this quartet has been assisted at all times by captain Amparo Puig and coach Felipe Rodríguez.
Three medals that add to a remarkable haul in Evian
Spain is considered one of the tournament's mainstays, thanks to the excellent performance of the various teams sent since 2007, the year the event was founded. In this inaugural edition, Rocío Sánchez from Málaga won the women's category with two rounds of 70 strokes. In the team competition, the Spanish team—comprised of Javier Gallegos from Madrid, Javier Sainz from Biscay, and María Parrón from Murcia—finished second behind the Japanese team.
From that moment on, phenomenal results began to arrive, such as the team titles obtained in 2008, with Adriá Arnaus, Eder Moreno, Harang Lee and Natalia Escuriola, and in 2011 with Martín Larrea, Manuel Elvira, Covadonga Sanjuán and Alejandra Pasarín.
Furthermore, Spain's record in the event includes five silver and two bronze medals in the team competition; in the individual competition, Harang Lee, Nagore Martínez, Jaime Montojo, Álvaro Portillo, Álvaro Revuelta, Arián Rodríguez, and more recently Samuel Love and Ángela Revuelta have won medals over the years with magnificent performances. Martín Cervera and Oliver de Wint now join this list.
