Nuria Iturrioz celebrates her fifth Ladies European Tour victory in Texas

He has won the Aramco Houston Championship, one of the tournaments with the best participation on the calendar.

Nuria Iturrioz (-13 overall) secured her fifth victory on the Ladies European Tour this Sunday, her first in the last two years.

Nuria Iturrioz (-13 overall) secured her fifth Ladies European Tour victory on Sunday, her first in two years. The Spanish player overtook golfers such as Charley Hull (-11), Carlota Ciganda (-11), and Celine Boutier (-10) in the final stages of the Aramco Houston Championship.

Nuria has completed a perfect week at the Golfcrest Country Club in Texas. Her rounds of 68, 67, and 68 strokes, with just four bogeys in 54 holes, reflect the Mallorcan golfer's excellent performance in a tournament with one of the best fields on the calendar.

To win, Nuria Iturrioz had to overcome Carlota Ciganda, who was leading at dawn on Sunday. Ciganda's double bogey on the 9th and a subsequent bogey on the 13th distanced the player from Navarre, who then opened up a gap with birdies on the 14th, 15th, and 17th holes.

This is Nuria Iturrioz's fifth victory on the European Tour. A professional since 2015, her first win came the following year at the Lalla Meryem Cup, a tournament she won again in 2019. That same season, the Mallorcan also triumphed at the Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic. Her memorable victory at the La Sella Open came in 2023.

His professional resume also includes a victory in the 2019 Zimmer Bimet Championship, part of the Symetra Tour, and wins on the Santander Golf Tour.

Three Spaniards in the Top 5 in Ireland

It has also been a very productive week for Spanish golf on the DP World Tour. Ángel Hidalgo (-15), Rafael Cabrera-Bello (-15), and Ángel Ayora (-13) all finished in the top five in a tournament where Rory McIrony didn't miss the opportunity to reign supreme on home soil. The Northern Irishman triumphed at The K Club after winning a playoff, which he reached after sinking a spectacular eagle on the 18th hole.

What will be remembered from this week are Ángel Hidalgo's twelve birdies in the third round, seven of them consecutive. His round put him right in contention for the win, but it was destined to be Rory's Sunday.

Seventh place for Quim Vidal in Poland

Quim Vidal (-8), in seventh place, finished his run at the GAC Rosa Challenge Tour, a HotelPlanner Tour event held in Poland, on a high note. With a 66, his best score of the week, the Catalan, who won in India this year, returned to the Top 10.

Also among the top performers was Amaia Latorre (-3), who has been very inspired in recent weeks, at the Rose Ladies Open, part of the LET Access Series. The Basque golfer finished sixth, although in her case the feeling was bittersweet, given that she was fourth at the start of the final round and finished with a round of 74.
