José María Ortiz de Pinedo has added another trophy to his collection with his victory in the III National Pitch & Putt Qualifying Tournament 2025, played at the Severiano Ballesteros Lavin – La Junquera course facilities (Pedreña, Cantabria).
The player from Castile and León started the third and final day of the tournament just one stroke behind the leader, Noel Calzadilla, but his card of 51 strokes, compared to the Canary golfer's 58, allowed him to clearly reverse the situation.
So much so that José María Ortiz de Pinedo finished with a total of 150 strokes and a four-stroke advantage over Germán Gutiérrez, second, and six strokes over Sergio Alonso and Noel Calzadilla himself, who shared third position.
Noel Calzadilla, first leader of the championship
The 2025 National Pitch & Putt Qualifying Tournament III began in the Cantabrian town of Pedreña with the first day of competition, in which a total of forty-three players gathered.
As has been the custom in recent years, the National Rankings are held in three rounds: the first two are played on Saturday and the third on Sunday morning, so that after the first 36 holes played, the most accurate was Noel Calzadilla, with two scores of 48 and 50 strokes, for a total of 98 strokes.
Very close to the Canary Islander was José María Ortiz de Pinedo after delivering two rounds of 48 and 51 strokes, for a total of 99 strokes.
Germán Gutiérrez completed the provisional podium of the event with two rounds of 53 and 49 strokes and a total of 102 strokes.
It should be remembered that, once again, Bodegas Habla is sponsoring the competition, awarding a valuable Magnum to the players who manage to get a hole-in-one during the two days.
Six events make up the National Ranking
The 2025 National Pitch & Putt Ranking consists of six events: the Spanish Individual Championships and the four National Qualifying events.
The Spanish Men's Championship was played last May, with César Crespo taking the victory at the Paderne course in A Coruña. The women's championship will take place on October 25th and 26th at Golf Elche.
As for the National Ranking Tournaments, this latest event adds to the two previously held, both won by Carlos Vega and César Crespo. After this tournament at La Junquera, only the Las Encinas Golf tournament remains, taking place in Madrid on September 20th and 21st.
