José María Ortiz de Pinedo, from Valladolid, has secured another international victory for Spanish Pitch & Putt. His win at the French Open, held this weekend at the Golf du Puy en Velay course in the Haute-Loire region, confirms his status as one of Spain's leading figures in this golf discipline.

José María Ortiz de Pinedo cemented his success with a first round of 46 strokes - the best of all those recorded over the weekend - followed by one of 49 and another of 52 for a total of 147 strokes, three less than those invested by the Portuguese Tomas Ribeiro.

The rest of the Spanish delegation, made up of six other players, has stood out with good results such as the third place of the Canary Islander Noel Calzadilla (151 strokes) or the ninth of the Balearic Islander Astin Nustedt.

A tournament with a long tradition of Spanish successes

José María Ortiz de Pinedo has taken over from other Spanish players who have already won this French Pitch & Putt Open; the last of them, the Canary Islander Prakash Aisa, who won last year at the Golf Bluegreen course, located in Saint Etienne.

Previous winners included players such as Carlos González (2011), Thomas Artigas (2015 and 2018) and Juan Soler (2022), exponents of that large group of golfers who have achieved success in the main open tournaments also held in England, Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal or San Marino.
