The EGA Handicap System included Appendix Z, which allowed national federations to "freeze" handicap increases based on scores above a certain handicap. If a player wished to increase their handicap, they had to request a Handicap Review from their club, and their handicap would be adjusted through a calculation. The RFEG (Royal Spanish Golf Federation) chose this option for handicaps above 26.4.

With the introduction of the World Handicap System, this option was maintained on a temporary basis; national federations can keep it until 2027. The RFEG has decided to stop applying Appendix Z as of January 12, 2025. From this date, handicaps will fluctuate according to the average established by the system.

In light of this decision, and to avoid abrupt handicap changes, the RFEG Courses and Handicaps Committee has decided to apply a handicap adjustment to all players affected by Appendix Z. This adjustment will ensure that the average of their handicaps equals their true handicap, and that with the submission of new results, their handicap will gradually reflect their actual playing level. This adjustment will be reflected in the player's profile and can be viewed in handicap reports and in the Player Area.
