The expected comeback of the Spanish team on the second and final day of the XIII Spain-Portugal P&P Match, which was played at the Quinta das Lágrimas course in Coimbra, did not happen and the Portuguese team took the victory by an undeniable result of 9 to 3.

In the second round, the one destined for the individual matches, the Spanish sextet had to pull off an epic comeback to reverse a result that became very difficult on the first day, but they did not succeed and lost again in the set by 4 to 2.

This result, along with the 5-1 on the first day, which was dedicated to the Fourball and Foursome matches, has given Portugal their second consecutive victory after the Portuguese team did the same a year ago at the Quinto Coto course in Badajoz.

Despite these two defeats, Spain continues to dominate the historical record of the event with nine victories to four.

The newly elected president of the Portuguese Golf Federation, Pedro Nunes, attended the awards ceremony that closed this year's edition of the Spain-Portugal P&P Match.

The Spanish delegation that has traveled to Portuguese lands has been made up of the Canary Islanders César Fernández de Caleya, Noel Calzadilla, Bernabé González and César Crespo, the Valladolid native José María Ortiz de Pinedo and the Madrid native Rafael Santonja, with Juan Manuel Matilla in the role of captain.

Bottom line

Portugal 9 – Spain 3
