Last week the 2024 DP World Tour season concluded, and this week the 2025 season kicked off. The first event was the BMW Australian PGA Championship, where Ángel Ayora (-9) achieved a very respectable sixth place. The victory went to local golfer Elvis Smylie (-14).
The Andalusian golfer finished the tournament—reduced to three rounds due to Friday's suspension—with a 64 (-7) and eight birdies, which propelled him 43 places up the leaderboard. His was the second-best round of the day. The second-best Spaniard in Australia was Iván Cantero, currently in 24th place at -5.
After this, the DP World Tour holds a second tournament in Australia before heading to South Africa.
On the other hand, Eugenio López-Chacarra (-14) finished fourteenth at the Link Hong Kong Open, a tournament on the Asian Tour. His 62 in the third round offers a glimpse into his level this week in China. Carlos Pigem (+1) fared less well, missing the cut and now facing a tournament in golf school to maintain his card.
In addition, Carlota Ciganda played her last LPGA tournament of the year, the prestigious CME Group Tour Championship. In Florida, the golfer from Navarre finished in 46th place with a score of -3, ending the week on a high note with a round of 68.
