. Chosen by the players as the best LET tournament in 2023, the organizers of La Sella Open highlight this year the high level of presentation of the Alicante course at La Sella Golf.

The Sella Open faces the second edition of its intense existence with an important challenge worthy of the demands with which it was born in 2023: to be designated for the second consecutive year as the best tournament of the Ladies European Tour.

Surrounded by historical connotations in its debut year on the LET calendar, when it was chosen by the players themselves as the best tournament on the Ladies European Tour and when it distinguished itself, with one million euros, as the professional golf competition with the highest total prize money in history in Spain, the organizers of La Sella Open want to highlight on this occasion the high level of presentation of the Alicante course of La Sella Golf.

This competition, part of the Ladies European Tour calendar, takes place between September 19th and 22nd, featuring the top female golfers on the LET. The players will find a completely renovated course, now entirely covered with Bermuda grass. This type of grass, in addition to requiring less water, allows for a better presentation, especially considering the climate at La Sella Golf in Alicante.

“We have made a very significant investment to ensure the course is in the best possible condition, not only by using grass better suited to our climate, but also by modernizing our irrigation system, which allows us to achieve optimal maintenance levels while consuming less water,” says Carlos García, director of La Sella Golf.

Another important detail distinguishes La Sella Golf as a very special tournament within the Ladies European Tour: Jimena Blanco, the course maintenance manager, leads the largest contingent of female volunteer greenkeepers in LET history. In total, there are 12 women, all professionals in green space maintenance, who have come from all over Spain.

Jimena Blanco believes that “our team’s dream this year, in addition to retaining the award for best tournament of the season on the LET, is to win the award for best-presented course. The entire team has worked with great enthusiasm throughout the summer, improving every detail, to arrive at the Open week with the course presented in the best possible condition.”.
