Francisco Javier Gómez from Málaga and Cristina Carrasco from Castellón have been crowned Spanish Under-16 Pitch & Putt Champions 2023 after the highly successful tournament held at BilBil Golf in Málaga. Chanya Huaysan, winner of the girls' competition, also deserves special mention.
Francisco Javier Gómez (97 total), from Lauro Golf, edged out Galician Simón Gómez – the Cadet champion – by two strokes, thanks mainly to his excellent second round of 48, the best seen in the men's competition. Carlos Cervero finished third with 103. Rubén Sánchez, with 104 strokes, won the title in the Under-12 category.
Chanya Huaysan, with a total of 98 strokes, was the best in the women's division, but since she does not hold Spanish nationality, she cannot be considered the Spanish champion. This honor went to Cristina Carrasco (104), who defeated Elena Isorna from Galicia on the second playoff hole. Isorna was also crowned the Under-12 champion. Blanca Gómez-Balboa, with 11 strokes, is the Spanish Under-14 champion.
Among the best moments of play during these two days of play were the holes-in-one achieved by Ignacio Tejero and Aitor Montes Ortiz de Pinedo, both on the 2nd hole of the Andalusian course.
Juan Antonio Macías, Spanish Benjamin Champion
The day before, the Spanish Benjamin Pitch & Putt Championship was completed on the same course, where the Andalusian player Juan Antonio Macías was crowned after overcoming the Murcian Enzo Zaplana, leader at the end of the first day, in an exciting playoff tiebreaker.
It should be remembered that in these three days of competition in Benalmádena the titles of Spanish Cadet and Benjamin Female Champion have been left vacant as the participation of six players required by the regulations was not reached.
