The Spanish and French teams tied with 12 points each in the Junior International Match held this time at the Saint Cyprian Golf Club in France. This is the second tie in the history of this competition, which also includes seven Spanish victories and one French win, achieved in 2002.
The two teams were evenly matched throughout this edition. The first of the two days of competition – doubles matches – ended with a narrow 6.5-5.5 lead for Spain, a lead that was leveled by the French on the second day, when the singles matches took place.
Interestingly, in the foursomes, all the women's doubles matches ended with a Spanish victory, while all the men's matches ended with a French victory, with Spain achieving the aforementioned minimal advantage in the fourballs.
The small difference was however leveled during the celebration of the individual matches, where the victories of Belén Buendía, Carlota Ciganda, Hugo Menéndez, Iván Chacón and Gervasio Cuquejo –along with the tie of Mady Goyos– were not enough to secure a new victory.
