In this series, we've unearthed images from the RFEG's photographic archive, each one telling a beautiful golf story. The story of our golf. They are OUR CHAMPIONS.

📆 July 11, 2015.

⛳ Golf Kaskada Brno (Czech Republic).

▶The history of Spanish golf is filled with beautiful stories of overcoming adversity, of seemingly impossible triumphs that became reality in a magical finale. That's what sport is all about, after all. One of these stories was written on July 11, 2015, at the Kaskada Brno Golf Course in the Czech Republic, by six golfers who, with sheer heart and determination, led Spain to its seventh medal at a European Girls' Under-18 Championship. This is how it happened.

▶A superb and spectacular reaction, crafted at the most opportune moment, when the situation was taking on its darkest tones, led to the triumph of the Spanish team in the grand final, in which they beat Italy 4 to 3.

▶The Spanish team, made up of María Parra, Ana Peláez, Marta Pérez, Elena Hualde, Paz Marfá and María Herráez, all captained by Mercedes Gómez Arbex and with Marcelo Prieto as coach, functioned like clockwork from the beginning to the end of the competition: first place in the preliminary phase, a solid victory against the Netherlands in the quarterfinals and a convincing victory against Austria in the semifinals.

▶In the grand final, with Italy as their rival, the Spanish team gave a lesson in fighting spirit, honor and accuracy, the precise characteristics to reverse a situation that turned dramatic when the Italians, in the foursomes, won the two points at stake.

▶Down 0-2, Spain needed to win at least four of their five singles matches, a feat achieved thanks to the inspiring teamwork of each and every Spanish player. María Parra paved the way, winning her match 4&2, followed by victories from Elena Hualde and Ana Peláez, both 2&1, and María Herráez on the 19th hole. This dramatic point secured the gold for Spain.

▶That gold medal was added to the other six won in 1991, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2003.
