⛳ Castelconturbia Golf Club (Italy)

▶ Every historic generation has a peak moment, a moment that enters the memory of the fans forever. Casillas, Xavi, and others had it in South Africa 2010; Pau Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro, and others had it in Japan 2006; and Carlota Ciganda, Belén Mozo, Azahara Muñoz, and company had it in Italy 2007.

▶ Their resounding victory (5.5-1.5) against Sweden—Anna Nordqvist's Sweden, no less—in the final of the European Team Championship held at Castelconturbia Golf Club, near Milan, was the culmination of a career filled with individual and team triumphs. Carlota Ciganda, Belén Mozo, and Azahara Muñoz, along with Emma Cabrera, Araceli Felgueroso, and Carmen Pérez-Narbón, reached the pinnacle of their amateur careers.

▶ The Spanish team, coached by José Gallardo and Marcelo Prieto, and captained by Macarena Campomanes, overwhelmed the powerful Nordic team in the singles matches, with Belén Mozo, Azahara Muñoz, Carlota Ciganda, and Araceli Felgueroso emerging victorious. These four points sparked jubilation among the Spanish fans.

▶ The team's performance was impeccable from their debut in Castelconturbia. An outstanding first qualifying round led to victories against Wales and Germany, who were eliminated before Sweden.

Months later, Emma Cabrera turned professional, followed by Azahara Muñoz; and after them, Belén Mozo and Carlota Ciganda, two other players who, along with the Malaga native, have developed their careers on the LPGA Tour. Their successful careers across the Atlantic were preceded by their magnificent days as members of a unique generation.
