Terramar, Spanish representative in the Men's European Club Championship

It is one of the four Spanish clubs that have won the tournament; it did so in 1991.

Terramar Golf Club (Barcelona) is representing Spanish golf this week, from October 22nd to 24th, at the European Men's Club Championship, held at the Cabot Bordeaux course (Bordeaux, France). Their goal is to win a medal in a tournament that has eluded Spanish hands since 2003.

The Catalan team, which was crowned Spanish champion a month ago at the Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas by beating Castiello in the final, presents itself with a team made up of Erik Hedberg, Ignacio de Pineda and Genis Alberti, with Álvaro Guerín as a substitute player if necessary and José Antonio Durán as captain.

The tournament, as usual, welcomes twenty-two other teams from as many countries across Europe; among them, the Danish team Smorum Golfklub, winners last year on the same course hosting this year's tournament. Back then, the Spanish representative, Castiello, achieved a commendable third place.

This European Men's Club Championship is decided over three days in which each team, made up of three players, will play 18 holes under the Stroke Play format, establishing a ranking based on the two best scores of each day.

Terramar, one of the four Spanish champions

Only four Spanish teams have truly shone in this Men's European Club Championship to date: Real Club de Golf El Prat (winner in 1981, 1982, and 1985), RSHE Club de Campo (1975), Terramar (1991), and Real Club de Golf de la Puerta de Hierro (1987 and 2003). In total, seven titles have gone to Spanish golf, a considerable haul given that the tournament has been held since 1975.
