The Swede delivered a flawless card of 64 strokes, eight under par, to reach a total of -15 and lift the trophy with a three-stroke advantage, in addition to placing himself in second position in the Staysure Legends Tour ranking, which has a new number 1, Stephen Gallacher.

Edfors' victory completes an extraordinary comeback. He began the tournament with a round of 72 strokes that seemed to put him out of contention for the title. On Saturday, he responded with a magnificent 65 to put himself firmly in the fight, and today he went even further: a 64 strokes to go, in just 48 hours, from even par to fifteen under par.

A progression that sums up very well the career of a player who, at 50 years old, seems to have found a new opportunity to win.

A second chance

Johan Edfors' story has a certain cyclical quality. He began his professional career making his way up the Challenge Tour, where he achieved his first victories before reaching the then European Tour. And when he arrived at the top European level, he did so in style: he won three tournaments in 2006, the season that changed his career.

Those would be his three victories on the Tour. As the years passed, so did the other side of professional golf: the loss of his card and a return to the Challenge Tour, where he was able to win again.

Now, having just turned 50, Edfors has arrived at the Staysure Legends Tour in almost the same way he burst onto the scene among the best in Europe: by winning.

After making his debut as champion this season in Ireland, he has done it again at Fontanals Golf and has already accumulated five top 10 finishes in his first season on the circuit.

It doesn't seem like a second youth. It's more like a second chance for a player who never forgot how to win.

Six birdies in seven holes

Edfors approached the final round with patience. He started with three consecutive pars and closed the first nine holes with three birdies, including a crucial one on the 9th. And then the show began.

From the 9th hole onwards, the Swede strung together six birdies in seven holes, a devastating sequence that transformed a very tight day into an individual exhibition and allowed him to face the final holes with a considerable advantage.

It wasn't until he reached the 16th hole that he fully grasped the situation. “Really, the difference between the first round of the tournament and these last two rounds has been my putting and patience. I've managed both quite well, and it's worked. I'm thrilled; my putting has been spectacular. I didn't really know how the leaderboard stood until the 16th hole, when I saw I could finish with pars and win.”

And that's what he did. He managed his lead to close out a round of 64 strokes and a cumulative score of 15 under par.

The new European Legends Cup by SR Nexus champion also leaves thrilled with his first competitive experience in Fontanals. “The week has been incredible. The weather, the spectacular views, and the stunning course. It's been a magnificent week.”

Anna, talisman in the bag

The victory also had a special protagonist: Anna, Edfors' partner and caddie this week. She was already carrying his bag when he won in Ireland, and the combination worked again in Fontanals. Edfors joked after the win about the pressure these two victories now put on Michael, his other regular caddie, who will return to carrying the bag in Cambodia. Two tournaments together and two wins. It'll be hard to beat that statistic.

Three strokes lead

Although the standings remained very tight for much of the day, Edfors' acceleration proved uncatchable.

Robert Coles and Steve Webster shared second place with -12, three strokes behind the champion.

Bradley Dredge, who had started Sunday as the leader at -11 after completing the first two days without a single bogey, finished with the same cumulative score, behind Coles and Webster.

Fontanals shakes up the Staysure Legends Tour rankings

The European Legends Cup by SR Nexus has also had an immediate impact on the season standings. The results at Fontanals Golf have caused a major shake-up in the Staysure Legends Tour rankings.

Stephen Gallacher, who finished the week tied for fifth place, leaves Fontanals as the new leader of the rankings, while Johan Edfors' victory propels the Swede to second place. Gallacher and Edfors thus leave Fontanals occupying the top two positions in the rankings, adding a new element of excitement to the final stretch of the season. Fontanals has crowned Edfors and turned the Staysure Legends Tour on its head.
