Miguel Ángel Jiménez, losing in the playoff to Stewart Cink, almost winning 'his' Boeing Classic

Amaia Latorre and Harang Lee stand out in the Swiss Ladies Open, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.

. MAJ completed a sensational performance on the final day, 8 birdies! on the last nine holes that go down in the annals of the tournament.

First in the 2022 edition, second in 2023 and third in 2018, Miguel Ángel Jiménez has been close to repeating his best laurels in the Boeing Classic, a tournament integrated within the Champions Tour which, results in hand, suits him quite well.

The excellent feeling of the golfer from Malaga with this important event of the American senior circuit has also been evident in 2026, where Miguel Ángel Jiménez remained hidden for 36 holes before making his presence felt, very much present, in the outcome of the competition.

Two rounds of 70 strokes kept him in the upper-middle part of the leaderboard, specifically in fifteenth place with 18 holes to go. On that final round, however, the Spanish golfer's best qualities shone through: composure, experience, and abundant accuracy, culminating in a sensational 64. Interestingly, this was followed by an impressive second round with eight birdies on the back nine, a feat that will go down in the tournament's history.

Moreover, if you include another birdie on the 8th hole, Miguel Ángel Jiménez beat the course nine times in the last eleven holes. Impressive! There's no other word to describe a glorious performance that took a while to get going—up to that eighth hole, MAJ was 1 over par for the day—but then turned into a dizzying display of skill.

Only American Stewart Cink, another of the Champions Tour's greats, challenged such a whirlwind of play, tying for the top spot after the final 18 holes. In the playoff, however, it was Stewart Cink who pulled off a birdie, a better result than the par carded by Miguel Ángel Jiménez.

Good result for Spain on the Ladies European Tour

No fewer than forty Spanish golfers have been involved this week in various professional tournaments around the world.

Nine Spanish women participated in the Swiss Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour. Luna Sobrón, from the Balearic Islands, who finished sixth last week in London, arrived in good form, confirmed by an opening round of 65, though her performance wasn't as strong. She ultimately finished in 27th place, while Amaia Latorre and Harang Lee, in sixth and seventh place respectively, comfortably entered the Top 10 and were the most successful Spanish players. The victory went to England's Eleanor Givens, who finished three and four strokes ahead of Latorre and Lee.

Likewise, in the women's field, five other Spanish women participated in the Ladies Slovak Golf Open, part of the LETAS, where María Villanueva, in 38th place, was the best in a tournament dominated by the Slovakian Michaela Vavrona.

Meanwhile, in the men's category, ten Spaniards traveled to Denmark to compete in the Danish Golf Championship, among them Eugenio Chacarra, who was aiming for his third victory of the season after those achieved in the Netherlands and Italy. The Madrid native made the cut along with Alejandro del Rey and Ángel Ayora, the latter being the best of the Spaniards (46th place, at -3) but far behind the tournament winner, Dane Jeff Winther, who finished at 15 under par.

Even larger, with thirteen golfers, was the Spanish contingent at the Irish Challenge on the Hotelplanner Tour. Javier Barcos – who finished third last week in Scotland – Pablo Ereño, Joel Moscatel, Santiago Tarrío, Juan Salama… all arrived fresh from impressive results on this circuit.

Joel Moscatel, for example, became the early leader with an outstanding 64, a score he was later unable to replicate, ultimately finishing in 28th place. The honorary title of best Spaniard went to Pablo Ereño, who finished 10th with a score of 9 under par, in a tournament won by South African Justin Harding at 13 under par.

Finally, across the Atlantic, Julia López—recently selected for the 2026 European Solheim Cup team—and Carolina Chacarra competed in the LPGA's Portland Classic. The Andalusian golfer missed the cut, while the Madrid native battled hard before finishing in 42nd place at 8 under par, in a competition ultimately won by Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul, who finished first at 22 under par.
