Lars Keunen has been crowned champion of the 2026 Fred. Olsen Alps La Gomera after an outstanding performance over the three days played at Tecina Golf. The Dutch player carded a final round of 65 (-6) for a total of -17, winning by four strokes over his closest rivals.
Keunen went into the final day as the sole leader, but with an extremely tight leaderboard. Up to twenty players started the round separated by just four strokes, forcing the Dutchman to maintain a high level of play from the very beginning.
The champion admitted that he approached the decisive round calmly, although fully aware of the tight competition. “I started the day quite relaxed, having breakfast with incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean from the hotel. I had read that about 20 players were separated by only four strokes, so I knew I had to have a low round.”.
Despite a slow start, Keunen remained calm and capitalized on the opportunities the course presented. “The beginning was decent, though not spectacular. I shot a three-punch for par on the 3rd hole, but since I had started similarly the first two days, I didn't think much of it. I knew I still had time to recover.”.
The Dutchman avoided paying too much attention to the leaderboards for much of the round, focusing all his efforts on his own game. “I tried not to look at the live scoring too much at the beginning. Around the 12th hole, I checked the leaderboard and saw that I was one stroke ahead, although there were still several birdie opportunities ahead.”.
Keunen capped off his performance with three birdies in the last five holes to finish the tournament in style and lift the title in La Gomera. “In the end, I was quite relaxed. Having my girlfriend here was a great support. Sometimes I can be very hard on myself, and she helped me maintain a positive attitude throughout the week.”.
Eduard Rousaud, second, best Spaniard in the tournament
The best Spanish performance of the week came from Eduard Rousaud, who shared second place with a total of -13 after rounds of 69, 64, and 67. “I started more relaxed than I expected and I did a really good job mentally. I haven't felt like I had the game to compete for tournaments for a while, and now I feel like I do again. The mental aspect is bringing me back to what I believe I am as a player. I feel like I have a lot of potential and I have a lot of faith in myself.”.
The Spaniard also highlighted his reaction on the final holes after making two consecutive bogeys on the back nine. “I’m very proud of how I finished. I reacted very well after the bogeys on 15 and 16. On 17 I sank a great putt and on 18 I told myself I could do it. In the end, I got my reward. Beyond the result, I’m happy with the feeling because I think I’m on the right track.”.
The Spanish player finished tied with Frenchman Paul Margolis, Italian Mattia Comotti and another of the tournament's great protagonists, Marco Florioli, consolidating one of the most outstanding performances of the season for Spanish golf on the Alps Tour.
Victor Garcia Broto also shone, finishing seventh with -12, while Alberto Dominguez, Jose Antonio Sintes and Alfonso Buendia finished tied for thirteenth place with -10.
Among the names that stood out in the tournament was José Antonio Sintes from Gran Canaria, who finished as the best-ranked Canarian player after finishing with -10.
Sintes returned to competition this week in a World Amateur Golf Ranking event and responded with a very solid performance in front of his home crowd. His spectacular second round of 64 (-7), one of the best scores of the entire tournament, allowed him to remain among the top contenders throughout the week.
The 2026 edition of the Fred. Olsen Alps La Gomera once again offered a great sporting spectacle at Tecina Golf, bringing together some of the most outstanding players of the Alps Tour and confirming, once again, the role of the tournament as one of the benchmark events on the calendar.
After three days of high competitive level and a classification marked by equality until the last day, Lars Keunen inscribed his name in the tournament's record books thanks to a solid and consistent performance that allowed him to lift the trophy in La Gomera.
The Fred. Olsen Alps La Gomera tournament has been supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, Promotur Turismo de Canarias, the La Gomera Island Council, the Canary Islands Golf Federation, the Alps Tour, and Kyocera. The tournament promoter and organizer is JGolf.
