During the presentation, the various authorities and representatives highlighted the importance of the tournament for the promotion of sports and tourism on the island, as well as the consolidation of Tecina Golf as one of the most recognized venues within the European circuit.
Andrés Marín, CEO of Fred. Olsen SA, expressed his satisfaction at hosting the event once again and thanked the organizers for their continued trust. “As always, we are delighted to host the Alps Tour tournament at our facilities in La Gomera for another year. Fred. Olsen is proud to host a competition of this caliber, and we are extremely grateful to JGolf and the Alps Tour for continuing to choose us for such an important tournament,” he said.
Andrés Marín also highlighted the prestige the circuit has achieved in recent years and the quality of the players present in this edition. “Great players have participated in this tournament, and we hope that will continue to be the case in the future. This year we have names like Álvaro Quirós, Alejandro Cañizares, and Álvaro Hernández, one of the leading figures in Canarian golf. The Alps Tour has established itself as a highly prestigious circuit, and more and more players want to compete here,” he stated.
For his part, Diego Cambreleng, president of the Royal Canary Islands Golf Federation, expressed his gratitude for Fred. Olsen's continued commitment to golf on the island. "We always come to La Gomera with enthusiasm and excitement. Thank you for continuing to support our sport and for the benefits that these kinds of events generate for both the island and the Canary Islands," he emphasized.
The Vice President of the La Gomera Island Council, Adasat Reyes, highlighted the island's appeal as a tourist and sporting destination. “La Gomera has something that captivates those who visit it. Its tranquility, culture, gastronomy, and surroundings have allowed competitions like this one to reach their sixth edition and continue growing in the future. All of this is the result of a combined effort that makes the island an attractive destination for both tourism and sport,” he explained.
Adasat Reyes also highlighted the excellent conditions Tecina Golf offers for playing golf. “The weather and the surroundings at Tecina Golf allow participants to enjoy a fantastic experience throughout the week. We hope the players enjoy the tournament, because that's the best way to achieve their goals,” he added.
The mayor of San Sebastián de La Gomera, Angélica Padilla Herrera, welcomed the participants and highlighted the tournament's impact on the island's international promotion. “It is a pleasure to host another edition of the Fred. Olsen Alps La Gomera and to welcome the more than one hundred players, their teams, and companions visiting us this week. For some, it will be a return to a familiar course; for others, their first experience on our island. We wish them all an unforgettable stay,” she said.
The mayor also emphasized the tournament's strategic importance for the region. “This event represents much more than a sporting competition. It is a magnificent opportunity to project La Gomera's image internationally, reinforce our position as a sports tourism destination, and demonstrate our capacity to host major events,” she concluded.
Following the official presentation, everything is ready for Tecina Golf to once again become the epicenter of European professional golf. The competition will be played over 54 holes and will bring together some of the top players on the Alps Tour during a crucial week for the season.
