BELGIUM INTERNATIONAL UNDER 14 2026

Spanish golf makes a strong showing at one of the star tournaments of the summer junior season in Europe, the Belgian International Under 14. Up to twelve golfers - including the two newly crowned Spanish Junior Champions, Sergio Vargas and Sofía Gamilla - make up the delegation that has traveled to the Royal Waterloo Golf Club, located between the towns of Lasne and Waterloo, the venue for the tournament from Thursday, July 2nd to Saturday, July 4th.

The golfers who have traveled to Belgium are six boys and six girls. Sergio Vargas, Lucas Barra, and Álvaro Mateu from Madrid, Graciliano Ballesteros from Valencia, Manuel Cano from Valladolid, and Enzo Jiménez from Soria are competing in the men's event; and Sofía Gamilla from Cádiz, Chloe Huang and Liria Hao from Madrid, Aitana Soler from Valencia, Andrea Arnal from Castellón, and Iona Lage from Lleida are competing in the women's event.

The expedition is led by Captain Antonio Gonzálbez and technician Felipe Rodríguez.

The tournament takes place just days after the Spanish Junior Championships, where these players played a starring role. Sergio Vargas won the boys' competition, beating Álvaro Mateu, and Sofía Gamilla successfully defended her title in the girls' competition.

And in fact, the Galician golfer did it last year on this very same course. De la Riva's victory capped an exceptional team performance, with second-place finishes for Martín Cervera and Icíar Rodríguez, and a win in the Nations Cup.

2025 marked the first time the RFEG's Youth Technical Committee sent an official delegation to the tournament, although in previous editions there had been occasional participation from players from Spain. On one of the most recent occasions this occurred, in 2019, Rocío Tejedo from Castellón won her first international title, triumphing brilliantly in the women's category at the Royal Waterloo course.
