Marco Penge, the newly crowned winner of the Spanish Open presented by Madrid in 2025, returns to the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid from October 8-11, aiming to add his second consecutive title and further solidify his status as a key player in the exciting history of this tournament, one of the oldest on the DP World Tour.

Last year, the English golfer put on a fascinating performance that led him to lift the champion's trophy in a unique way, rarely seen in the many years of existence of this Spanish Open: victory with a final score of 1 over par.

That restraint contrasted with the insatiable productivity displayed during the first 54 holes, 16 under par in three rounds that became the true foundation of his triumph, linking his name to the pedestal of a tournament that boasts of having within it much of the best of the best in the history of this sport.

Born in the English town of Horsham in 1998, to an Italian father, Marco Penge tried his luck in football - of which he is a passionate fan - before dedicating himself entirely to golf, where he has accumulated five victories.

The first two, forged on the HotelPlanner Tour during his golfing growth stage, occurred in 2023 at the Portugal Open and the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final held in Mallorca, anticipating his strong desire to win on the Iberian Peninsula.

Two seasons later came his true breakthrough as a golfer, three well-distributed victories throughout 2025 on the DP World Tour that began with the Hainan Classic at the end of April, continued with the Danish Golf Championship in mid-August and culminated, in mid-October, with the Open de España presented by Madrid.

This latest victory came with a novel 3-for-1 bonus that filled the winner with satisfaction. Beyond the glory of lifting a centennial trophy, Marco Penge earned the right to participate in the Masters Tournament and the British Open in 2026.

Having joined the PGA Tour this year after his great 2025 season, special mention should be made of his fourth place finish at the Valspar Championship in mid-March, anticipating a desire: to add the second consecutive victory at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid and consolidate England, with thirteen victories, as the second country with the most titles in the Spanish Open.

About the Spanish Open presented by Madrid
The Open de España presented by Madrid is the third oldest golf tournament in Europe, after the Open Championship and the Open de France. Over the years, it has boasted prestigious winners such as Severiano Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, and, more recently, Jon Rahm.

Since 2019, the event has been held at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, very close to the center of the Spanish capital. The 2021 event was the first on the European Tour to be a sustainable and carbon-neutral event. The Spanish Open is broadcast in more than 120 countries.

Tickets are available for purchase on the official event website.
