The day began with an eight-point tie, suggesting that every point would be crucial. Julia López faced Yealimi Noh in the seventh match of the day, and she performed admirably considering she had only played once all weekend. The Andalusian player won 3-2, securing the fifth point for Anna Nordqvist's team.
In the penultimate match, Carlota Ciganda faced Jennifer Kupcho, and the player from Navarre sealed the European victory with a clear win (4/2), thanks to a great start: she won four of the first five points, further cementing her legendary status in a competition she has entered eight times. Thus, a European and Spanish celebration at Bernardus Golf.
This result further narrows the tournament's record, leaving the United States with eleven wins to nine for Europe, which has been superior in recent years, as indicated by its successes in 2019, 2021, 2023 and now in 2026.
Absolute equality after the first two rounds
The competition has been fierce in this edition of the Solheim Cup, especially in the first two rounds, which ended in a tie at eight points. The first round finished with a score of 4-4. The morning foursomes round (2-2) opened the tournament on a course that has had a spectacular golfing atmosphere.
In the afternoon, Anna Nordqvist brought Julia López and Carlota Ciganda out of the woodwork as a shock therapy match against the Nelly Korda-Lauren Coughlin pair, and the duel proved memorable. The European duo, both Spanish, took a two-up lead on the 9th tee, but a fierce American comeback turned the score around (one up on the 14th). Carlota and Julia secured the 16th hole with a great putt from the former, followed by a fist pump and a shout of "Let's go!" There was no further movement, only plenty of tension.
This round of fourballs concluded with another tie at two points to put the score at the end of Friday at 4-4.
Saturday proved equally exciting, though with even less of a Spanish flavor, as Julia López didn't participate and Carlota Ciganda only played in the afternoon fourballs. She played unsuccessfully alongside France's Celine Boutier; they fell on the 18th hole to Jennifer Kupcho and Lindy Duncan in a match they had under control by the 17th tee.
With that point, the United States won the afternoon (3-1) and compensated for the European superiority in the morning foursomes, so that everything remained as it was at the start of the day, tied (8-8).
