Ron Kirby designed the Lopesan Meloneras Golf Course, which opened in June 2006. It was the sixth golf course to open in Gran Canaria and the first for the Lopesan Hotel Group. The Spanish PGA Championship was held on this course in 2007, with resounding success, allowing elite professionals such as Rafa Cabrera and Álvaro Quirós to experience its natural beauty and demanding design.
