RAIMAT GOLF CLUB

The pleasure of sport in an overflowing nature
In a region renowned worldwide for its excellent wines and cavas, lies the Raimat Golf Club, located on the estate of the same name. A landscape of verdant plains stretching into Aragon, with views of the Aragonese and Catalan Pre-Pyrenees mountains, provides an environment of abundant natural beauty for playing golf. With virtually unlimited water resources thanks to the estate's reservoirs, Raimat prides itself on being one of the few golf courses in Catalonia that remains green year-round.

The entity
At the beginning of the 20th century, Manuel Raventós Doménech acquired a 3,000-hectare estate of arid, desert-like, and saline land. Besides the land, the estate contained a single tree and an Arab castle with a stone coat of arms dated 1627, engraved with a bunch of grapes and a hand (raïm and ma in Catalan: Raimat). The arrival of water with the Aragon and Catalonia Canal in 1910 and human effort made possible what Raimat is today. The desert was transformed into fertile land, known worldwide for its wines and cavas.
Raimat is located 14 kilometers from Lleida, within its own municipal boundaries, near the border between Catalonia and Aragon. Raimat Golf Club is situated in the Vallfonda area, a balanced natural environment of oak and pine forests, vineyards and orchards, with gentle hills and groves. The estate features several reservoirs that provide a guaranteed and unlimited water supply, even in years of drought. The verdant plains extend southward to a large residential area that commands beautiful views of the city of Lleida and its surrounding agricultural land; to the west and north lie the impressive plains that stretch into Aragon and the snow-capped mountains of the Aragonese and Catalan pre-Pyrenees.
In 1992, the Raventós Espona family decided to develop Raimat Golf Club as the beginning of a sports and residential complex. This decision was based on the fact that there was no golf course within a 100-kilometer radius and that in Lleida there was a large group of golfers who practiced on farmland and played nomadically on other courses.
Respect for the environment
The course was designed by Pepín Rivero's architectural studio, resulting in a flexible layout with wide fairways where all clubs can be used. The course design prioritizes respect for the natural environment, and even within the course itself, protected natural areas are integrated as hazards.
The first 9 holes were inaugurated in April 1994. The second phase of the course, that is, the completion of the current 18 holes, was commissioned to a team from the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineering of Lleida in 2000, and was officially inaugurated by the Most Illustrious Father Antoni Siurana i Zaragoza of Lleida on June 15, 2002.
The Raimat Golf Club is 6,187 meters long from the tees with a SSS of 72. The course is laid out on two levels. Holes 1 through 5 are located on the flat area next to the clubhouse, while holes 6 through 18 are situated in the surrounding valley. Hole 6, a 160-meter par 3 with a 50-meter elevation change from tee to green, is particularly spectacular.
It's a very interesting course for mid-handicap golfers, adapted with drop zones for beginners, and requires maximum concentration on some holes since, while not difficult, there are water hazards that penalize inaccurate shots. The Course Captain has the ability, depending on the needs, to make it an easy or very difficult course by adjusting the placement of flags, tees, and mowing the fairways.
In the center of the course is the Clubhouse, equipped with all amenities: bar-restaurant, changing rooms, golf shop, Club office, club storage, etc. Near the Clubhouse is the swimming pool, from where you can enjoy spectacular views, stretching as far as the beginning of the Pyrenees.
