Basic concepts of a golf hole

From Tee to Green

To understand the design of any Golf course To correctly apply the Rules of Golf, it is essential to know the elements that make up each hole from beginning to end:

campo iniciacion al golf

Tee

The level area from which the first shot of each hole is made. It is the only place where it is permitted to place the ball on a stand (tee).

Street

The closely mown grass area that extends from the tee to the green and facilitates the next shot.

Rough

Area of taller and denser grass on the sides of the street, which makes it difficult to control the shot.

Bunker

Sand obstacle, strategically placed to catch stray balls and make the game more difficult.

Water Obstacle

Any lake, pond, river, sea, or ditch with water encountered on the course will result in a penalty if the ball falls into it.

Out of bounds

Area usually delimited by white stakes, paths or water, which delimits the permitted playing area of the hole.

Green

The area of finer grass, where the flag is located, with the aim of rolling the ball into the hole.

Basic Golf Vocabulary

The sport of golf has specific words; we'll show you some of them.

Bars

These are the markings placed on the tees to indicate the starting areas. The white and yellow markings are for men, and the red and blue markings are for women and children.

Bunker

It is an obstacle where the grass or ground has been replaced by sand or a similar material. A ball is in a bunker when it lies in, or any part of it touches, the bunker.

Caddy

This is the person who carries a player's clubs during the game and assists them according to the Rules.

Handicap

It is the number of strokes advantage (certified by the Federation) that one player has over another or over the course.

Pair

We make par when we sink the ball with the strokes that the course card indicates should be made in a hole.

Swing

It is the movement that the player makes when moving the stick to hit the ball or to try a shot.
